BURLINGTON, N.C. - Mount Olive's run to the 2018 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship game came to an end as the seventh-seeded Trojans fell in nine innings to the top-seeded Limestone Saints on Saturday afternoon in Burlington, N.C.

GAME RUNDOWN

  • UMO got things going first after three scoreless innings as the Trojans scored a run in the top of the fourth inning taking a 1-0 lead. Kristin Power hit a single to left field and advanced to second on the throw allowing Callie Ferrell to score the first run of the game.
  • Mount Olive held the 1-0 lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Saints tied the game at one all on a fielders choice RBI.
  • The Trojans had an opportunity to score with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning but Ferrell struck out swinging to end the inning for UMO.
  • Mount Olive held the Saints scoreless through the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings but could not stop the top-seeded Limestone as they scored on a walk-off home run to left field to win the game 2-1 and eliminate the Trojans.
