Trojans Hold Off North Greenville 75-64 For Conference Carolinas Road Win

Jasmine McDonald recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Mount Olive to a win Saturday afternoon against North Greenville University in Conference Carolinas women's basketball at Tigersville, S.C.

The Trojans used an opening 9-0 run to start the game off and the lead remained in the hands of Mount Olive. North Greenville made a run in the first half with six straight points scored by Timisty Nelson which put the Crusaders behind by two with 4:08 to go.

Mount Olive then went on to score nine unanswered points finished off by Shy'Lia Buie's three-pointer with 2:08 remaining giving the Trojans their largest lead at 11. The Trojans took a 35-25 lead into the half.

North Greenville in the second half made the game a bit closer as the Crusaders shrunk the Trojan lead down to five with a 9-2 run that started with a jumper by Jaquazha Barrino at 14:21. The Crusaders once again got the Mount Olive lead down to five on a layup by Nelson with 3:30 left in the second half.

However, the Trojans ended the afternoon with a 5-0 run that pushed the lead back to 11. The University of Mount Olive won by a final score 75-64.

For the University of Mount Olive, Kirksten Mitchell had 15 points and five rebounds. Katie Paschal scored 13 points and dished out five assists. Ty Wallace was the final Trojan in double figures with 11 points and four rebounds.

Nelson finished the afternoon with 18 points and four rebounds for North Greenville.

Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday as the Trojans travel to Due West, S.C., to take on Erskine in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
