Mount Olive Uses Total Team Effort Against Pfieffer To Win Fifth Straight 88-56

Katie Paschal scored 19 points and led four University of Mount Olive players in double figures as the Trojans defeated Pfeiffer University 88-56 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball Wednesday night in Misenheimer, N.C.

Pheiffer University (3-17 Overall, 2-10 Conference Carolinas) jumped out to an early five point lead over the visiting University of Mount Olive Trojans (13-7, 8-4).

The two teams kept it close as the game was tied four times over the next ten minutes and neither team had a lead higher than three.

With 6:44 to go Jasmine McDonald knocked down two free throws that started a 12-3 run for the Trojans that put them up twelve, Mount Olive's largest lead of the first half. They went into the half up 40-29.

Mount Olive started the second half with an eleven point lead and never looked back as they extended their lead to 32. Paschal scored nine of her 19 points in the second half.

The lead was sprung by a 16-0 run with 11:43 to go with contributions from six different Trojan players that put Mount Olive up by 30. Pheiffer got the margin down to 24 but that was as low as the Falcons brought the Trojan lead to.

For Mount Olive Paschal finished along with her 19 points; five assists and three rebounds. McDonald had 15 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. Ty Wallace added 12 points. Anamaria Zjacic was the final Trojan play to finish in double figures with 10 points. 13-of-14 Mount of players finished with at least two points in the contest.

Alexis Stallard had 11 points for the Falcons. Carter Williams also added nine points.

The win is the fifth straight for the University of Mount Olive. The Trojans return to action this Saturday when they travel to King in Bristol, Tenn. to take on The Tornado match time is set for 5:30 pm.
