Ty Wallace Scored A Career High 25 Points But Mount Olive Fell To St. Augustines 89-80

Ty Wallace scored a career high 25 points but, the University of Mount Olive fell to St. Augustine's College 89-80 in Raleigh, N.C. in non-conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon. Three players scored in double figures for the Trojans.

Mount Olive (3-7) surrendered the first points of the game as St. Augustine's (6-3) Jeanne-Marie Wilson collected a rebound and a put back to give the Falcons the early lead. St Augustine's went on a 7-0 opening run and quickly took the momentum in the first period stretching the lead to as high as 12.

The Trojans fought back with a run of their own with 12:23 to go in the first period as Ariel Johnson hit a jumper and eight points later Mount Olive had brought the deficit down to four 20-16. Mount Olive was unable to halt the Falcon offensive as their lead never fell below four.

The first period ended with St. Augustine's up eight 46-38.

Mount Olive was kept in check for the majority of the second period as they could not manage to bring the lead under nine. Tommarah Harris with 12:12 left helped start the Mount Olive comeback with a three-pointer. The Trojans then proceeded to go on a 9-to-1 run to bring the lead back to Mount Olive 60-61.

St. Augustine's Porscha Walton nailed a three-point shot with 7:16 to go to give the Falcons the lead for good 67-75. After Walton's three the Falcons scored ten unanswered points to jump out and secure the win with 5:38 left in the game. Mount Olive was not able to bring the game back to under four for the remainder of the game.

Wallace finished one rebound shy of tying her career high as she finished with 14 boards to go along with her 25 points. Shylia Buie added 15 points and Harris rounded out the Trojan player in double digits with 14 points.

The Falcons had five players in double figures. Regime McCombs led the team with 18. Wilson and Terri Jacobs had 14 points and 10/11 rebounds respectively. Walton and LaKiya both had 11.

Mount Olive has completed its final game of 2014 and will return to action after the New Year when the Trojans travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King University. Tip-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
