Women's Basketball Falls To Pfeiffer 68-59

Ty Wallace had her fifth straight double-double, but the University of Mount Olive fell to Pfeiffer University 68-59 in Mount Olive, N.C. for Conference Carolinas women's basketball. The Trojans made a late run in the second half but was unable to complete the comeback.

Mount Olive (4-10 Overall, 2-6 Conference Carolinas) took the game's first points with a jumper by Anamaria Zjacic. Pfeiffer (5-7, 4-4) responded to tie the game on the next possession. The Falcons retained the lead for the next 12 minutes. Mount Olive was able to keep the Pfeiffer lead under double digits.

The Trojans fought back to tie the ball game up at 25 with 4:29 left in the first period. Pfeiffer took back the lead with a jumper by Meg Pritchard. Arieal Johnson tied the game once more after two made free throws with under a 1:30 left before the half.

The game was tied for the fifth time before Carter Williams for Pfeiffer hit a shot beyond the arch to take a 33-30 lead into the half.

Mount Olive was able to keep the Falcon lead under 10 for most of the second half, until Pfeiffer had a 5-0 run that extended the cushion to 14, 5:37 left in the second half. Mount Olive made a run late to get the lead back to under double figures. A 5-0 run ended with a layup from Shy'lia Buie to bring the score to 66-59 with :19 to go.

That was the closest the Trojans got as Pfeiffer closed out the game with two free throws and picked up the win 68-59.

Wallace ended her night with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Tommarah Harris had a career high 16 points.
