Women's Basketball Falls to No. 10 Limestone 86-60

Mount Olive drew to as close as a one possession game in the second period before a 22-9 run by No. 10 ranked Limestone College sealed the game as the Trojans fell 86-60 to the Saints Friday night in Conference Carolinas women's basketball in Gaffney, S.C. Ni'Ya Styles led the Trojans with 19 points, seven of which came in the fourth period.

Coming into the second period Mount Olive (5-7 Overall, 3-3 Conference Carolinas) trailed by six. Ariel Johnson kicked off the scoring as her three point play took the Limestone (11-0, 6-0) lead to 21-18. The Saints Victoria Marshall responded with a layup five seconds later. Felicity Havens' jumper with 8:30 brought it back to a three point game.

Limestone's offense however, kicked into gear as the Saints mounted a 22-9 run headed into halftime and led 45-29.  

The third period did not see a change as the Trojans could not get their offense going. In the fourth period Mount Olive showed some life as with 8:14 remaining Styles' free throws started a 12-3 run. Chantal Worthy stopped the run with 4:47 as the Trojans trailed 77-48. Mount Olive was able to end the game with the final five points as the Trojans fell, 86-60.

Styles added four steals to her 19 points to lead the Trojans. Kiara Jones posted a double-double night with 10 points and 10 boards. Daria Simmons also added 10 points to round out the double digit scoring for Mount Olive.

The Trojans have a short rest as they head over to Tigerville, S.C. to play North Greenville, Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
