Women's Basketball Cruises Past Pfeiffer 75-50

University of Mount Olive utilized a 12 point run in the fourth quarter to seal the win against Pfieffer University 75-50 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball at Misenheimer, N.C. Ariel Johnson posted a double-double on the night to lead the Trojan offense. 

Mount Olive (8-7 Overall, 6-3 Conference Carolinas) had a big outburst in the fourth quarter as the Trojans headed into the final quarter up 54-40. Less than two minutes into the quarter Pfeiffer's (5-8, 4-5) Safia Sheikh hit a three-pointer to bring the game to a 58-48 cushion for Mount Olive. The Trojans responded by having a six point run. The Falcons were able to stop the run only momentarily with a bucket at the 5:45 mark. Johnson put the Trojans back in gear with a layup that started a 11-0 run to finish out the contest. 

Pfeiffer was able to keep the deficit under double digits for the first quarter, however with 7:22 left in the second quarter Mount Olive pushed the lead to 27-16 and never looked back. The Falcons were able to draw as close as five points, twice in the game, but The Trojans did not allow the lead to dip below that. 

Johnson finished with 23 points and 16 rebounds for Mount Olive. Felicity Havens was closely behind Johnson with 14 points. Rachel Fehl was close to a double-double as she finished with nine points and eight assists. 

The Trojans will return home to Mount Olive Tuesday, when the Tornado of King University come to town. The Conference Carolinas doubleheader will be part of Ez Bait and Tackle night in Kornegay Arena.
