Fourth Quarter Run Seals Mount Olive Victory 80-59 Over Belmont Abbey

University of Mount Olive utilized a 10-0 fourth quarter run to seal the 80-59 win over Belmont Abbey College Tuesday night for Conference Carolinas women's basketball in Mount Olive, N.C. Four different Trojans scored in the run.

The drive happened in the final 7:45 of the game as Mount Olive (9-8 Overall, 7-4 Conference Carolinas) kicked their offense into gear. Arieal Johnson started the run with a layup and was followed up by back-to-back three-pointers from Shy'lia Buie and Felicity Havens. Daria Simmons picked up a bucket and the Trojans led 72-55. 

Belmont Abbey (7-10, 6-5) was able to put together four points in response however the Crusaders were unable to mount a comeback as the Trojans ended the game on a 6-0 run. 

The Crusaders led only twice in the game both in the first quarter. Larisa Bishop scored Belmont Abbey's first five points of the game and led 5-2. Ni'Ya Styles tied the game up with a three-pointer and Buie gave Mount Olive the lead with 7:08 remaining in the first quarter. 

A seven point run by the Trojans gave Mount Olive a 14-7 lead with 3:54 to go and the lead never changed hands again.

Johnson led Mount Olive with 19 points, seven boards, and four blocks. Styles put up 13 points with six steals and six assists. Haven rounded out the double digit scorers for the Trojans with 12 points and also picked up six rebounds.

Mount Olive remain at home as the Trojans will play host to North Greenville University Friday in the annual Trojan Blackout Night sponsored by Piggly Wiggly. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
