Women's Basketball Falls To Barton 69-64

University of Mount Olive brought a double digit lead down to single digits with under eight minutes in the fourth quarter, but were unable to take the lead as the Trojans fell to rival Barton College 69-64 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball Wednesday night in Wilson, N.C. Felicity Havens led the Trojan offense with a career-high 23 points and 11 rebounds in the contest.

Mount Olive (10-10 Overall, 8-6 Conference Carolinas) was unable to recover from a 10-0 run by Barton (9-12, 7-7) midway through the third period as the run put the Bulldogs a head to stay. The run that started with 6:11 remaining before the fourth was put to a stop with a Shy'Lia Buie three-pointer with 2:45. The 15 point lead was Barton's largest of the game. 

The Trojans tried to mount a comeback as an 8-0 run that extended from the 1:11 mark of the third quarter into 7:54 in the fourth brought Mount Olive's deficit to single digits 57-50. The Bulldog lead was trimmed to a little as three with under ten seconds remaining as a pair of free-throws took the game to 67-64. Tatyana Jackson, of Barton, was fouled with five seconds and made both of her free-throws to seal the win for the Bulldogs.

Joining Havens in double figures were Kiara Jones and Buie with 12 points a piece to lead the Mount Olive offensive attack. 

Mount Olive remains on the road as the Trojans will travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King University this Saturday at 2 p.m. in Conference Carolinas action.
