Mount Olive, N.C. – A late first-half run helped the University of Mount Olive women's basketball team glide past Pfeiffer University, 85-64, on Piggly Wiggly Blackout Night in Kornegay Arena on Saturday evening.

FIRST QUARTER
- The Trojans trudged through the first five minutes of play as Pfeiffer went to the first media timeout with an 11-10 lead with 4:27 left on the clock.
- Out of the timeout, the Falcons knocked down a three-pointer to give Pfeiffer a four-point lead with 3:42 remaining in the period.
- UMO responded with an 11-0 run to close the quarter to give the Trojans a 21-14 advantage after the first frame.
SECOND QUARTER
- Mount Olive increased the run in the first 14 seconds of the quarter with a three by junior Ni'Ya Styles that inflated UMO's lead to 24-14.
- Holding the Falcons to just 12-second quarter points, the Trojans poured in 24 to provide a 45-26 advantage for UMO heading into the break.
THIRD QUARTER
- Coming out of the break, it was another Mount Olive streak, this time a 9-2 run, that pushed the Trojans out to a 54-28 lead with 7:27 left in the period.
- Pfeiffer got within 15 twice in the quarter but could draw no closer as the Trojans entered the final period with a 66-47 advantage.
FOURTH QUARTER
- Mount Olive's lead stretched out to as high as 29 in the final quarter as UMO secured an 85-64 victory over the Falcons.
KEY STATS
- Styles led the all scorers with 27 points on 11-16 shooting from the field and 5-8 from beyond the arc.
- Daria Simmons (23), Felecity Havens (15), and Kiara Jones (15) all finished in double figures for the Trojans.
- Havens recorded her team-best 10th double-double of the season with 11 boards to go along with her 15 points.
- UMO outshot Pfeiffer, 50% to 34.3%, and narrowly outrebounded the Falcons, 42-41.
Notables
- Mount Olive is off to its best start since the 2008-09 campaign when the Trojans opened the season 20-3.
