Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team dropped a home contest, 69-57, to King University in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday night in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST QUARTER
- UMO opened the game by jumping out to a 15-6 lead with 3:27 left in the opening quarter fueled by eight points by junior Ni'Ya Styles.
- A jumper by junior Felecity Havens increased the Trojans' lead to 10 at 19-9 before King answered with a layup in the final seconds to cut UMO's advantage to 19-11 after ten minutes of play.
SECOND QUARTER
- King responded in the second quarter with a 15-2 run that gave the Tornado a 26-21 lead with 2:41 remaining in the frame.
- Trailing 28-23, UMO scored the final seven points of the half, capped off by a jumper by Havens at the buzzer, to give the Trojans a 30-28 lead at the half.
THIRD QUARTER
- 3:49 into the third period, King retook the lead 38-36 on a three by Madison Davis.
- After a made jumper by freshman Makayla Nichols, the Tornado ended the quarter on a 6-0 run to increase its lead to 49-41 heading into the final frame.
FOURTH QUARTER
- The deficit reached double digits for Mount Olive as King lead, 56-46, with 6:30 left to play.
- Styles responded for the Trojans, as the junior knocked down back-to-back threes to trim the Tornado's lead to just four at 56-52 with 5:38 remaining in the quarter.
- A bucket and free throw by senior Daria Simmons pushed UMO back within a single possession at 58-55 with 4:38 left on the clock.
- King ended the game on an 11-2 run to give the Tornado the 69-57 win.
KEY STATS
- Styles led the way for UMO with 22 points in the loss.
