MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team fell to the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 59-52 on Wednesday evening in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C. Felecity Havens led the Trojan offense with 28 points.

FIRST QUARTER

  • The Crusaders opened the game on a quick 5-2 run but the Trojans came back to take a 10-7 lead following an 8-2 rally by UMO.
  • The teams knotted the score up twice at 10-all and 12-all before Mount Olive took a 14-12 lead on an Azariah Fields layup.
  • BAC responded with a three to take a slim 15-14 lead that they carried into the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

  • Belmont Abbey went up by seven points, 21-14, following back-to-back threes by the Crusaders to open the second quarter.
  • Felecity Havens scored five points to pull UMO within two, 21-19, but a 7-0 run by the Crusaders gave Belmont Abbey a nine-point, 28-19 lead with 2:56 left in the half.
  • UMO closed out the final three minutes on a 7-2 run to cut the BAC lead to four, 30-26, heading into the break.

THIRD QUARTER

  • Mount Olive fought back to tie the game at 30-all coming out of the break and took their first lead since the opening quarter on a three-pointer by Havens to go up 33-32.
  • Downing for Belmont Abbey scored five points to give the Crusaders a four-point 37-33 lead but Jada Bacchus scored three points on a layup and free throw to close the lead to one.
  • The Crusaders went on a 7-4 run to close the quarter and held a 44-40 lead going into the final ten minutes.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • A Havens three had the Trojans trailing a single point after a minute of action in the fourth before the Crusaders took off on a 7-0 run that increased the score to 51-43.
  • A Spivey free throw gave BAC a 10-point lead, 54-44, with 3:24 to go in regulation.
  • The Trojans chipped away at the Crusaders lead on a made three from Fields and an and-one opportunity for Havens that put the score at 54-50.
  • Mount Olive had to foul to stop the clock but ran out of time to catch Belmont Abbey who hit 5-of-6 free throws to end the game 59-52.
