Women's Basketball Defeated North Greenville 62-52 On Senior Day

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Mount Olive defeated the Crusaders of North Greenville University 62-52 on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, N.C. Senior Felecity Havens was recognized prior to the game for her hard work and dedication to the Trojan Green and White on Senior Day.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST QUARTER

  • The Trojans began the game on a 5-0 run with Havens scoring the initial layup to get things going.
  • NGU scored their first basket at the 7:30 mark before UMO went on a 4-0 spurt to take a 9-2 lead that they held until the 6:16 mark.
  • Over the next four minutes, the Crusaders climbed back to knot the score at nine all but back-to-back jumpers by Havens put Mount Olive up 13-9 heading into the second quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

  • A layup by Jada Bacchus put the Trojans ahead six points, 15-9, a minute and a half into the second quarter.
  • Mount Olive held a three to five-point lead through the middle of the quarter but a pair of Bacchus two-pointers and a layup by Havens extended the Trojan lead out to nine points, 26-17, with 1:44 remaining in the half.
  • The Crusaders made a push before the horn that scored a three-pointer and a layup 

THIRD QUARTER

  • UMO opened the third quarter with five quick points from Havens on a three and long jumper to go up 31-22.
  • A 9-0 rally by the Crusaders knotted the score at 31 all at the 4:24 mark before the Trojans closed the third quarter on an 11-3 rally to take a 42-34 lead into the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • North Greenville closed the gap to six points, 44-38, but Mount Olive reclaimed a 10-point lead 50-40 after Havens scored a pair of treys.
  • Each team scored 12 points through the remainder of the quarter with the Trojans coming out on top winning by ten points, 62-52.

KEY STATS

  • With her 34 points in the contest, Felecity Havens surpassed the 2,000 career point mark and now has 2,007 with at least two more games in her collegiate career.
  • Jada Bacchus added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Kelly Post scored seven points with six rebounds, an assist, and a steal.
