MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Mount Olive fell in the regular season finale 73-69 to the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on Tuesday evening in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action at Belk Arena in Due West, S.C.

FIRST QUARTER

  • Azariah Fields scored the opening basket of the game to give UMO the 2-0 advantage 1:12 into the game.
  • The Flying Fleet countered with an 8-2 run that included a pair of three-pointers to lead the Trojans 8-4 as the clock neared the six-minute mark.
  • A Jada Bacchus free throw pulled UMO within a point, 12-11, but Erskine closed the first quarter on an 8-2 run to lead 20-13 at the buzzer.

SECOND QUARTER

  • Mount Olive opened the second quarter on an 8-0 rally to knot the score at 20 all at the 7:30 mark. Kelly Post and Felecity Havens each recorded a layup, while Leah Williams added a key three in the run.
  • The Flying Fleet crept back ahead to lead 27-20 following seven unanswered points for EC, but the Trojans kicked on the burners to close the half on a 12-8 run entering halftime trailing by three points, 35-32.

THIRD QUARTER

  • UMO came out of the break on a 9-2 run taking their first lead of the game following a pair of jumpers from Havens that put the score at 41-37 with six to play in the third.
  • The Flying Fleet went on an 11-8 rally through the final minutes of the third quarter as the Trojans held on to a precarious 49-48 lead heading into the fourth.

FOURTH QUARTER

  • Erskine carried the momentum from their run that closed the third into the start of the fourth by taking a four-point, 53-49 lead by the 8:30 mark.
  • Mount Olive knotted the score at 55 all following a pair of buckets from Fields and two free throws from Havens as the clock fell under five to play.
  • The teams traded points and the lead over the next three minutes but a late three by the Fleet pushed EC up by four, 66-62, with 2:09 remaining.
  • Havens and Bacchus each scored to tie the score at 66 before Erskine sunk a basket and two free throws to go up four, 70-66 with 18 seconds.
  • The Fleet lead was trimmed to one, 70-69, following a long three by Havens, but the Trojans efforts fell short as the Flying Fleet won 73-69, after scoring three free throws to end the game.
