Trojans Drop Road Bout To Limestone 66-58

GAFFNEY, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team saw a first-half deficit too large to overcome as they fell to the Saints of Limestone College 66-58 in Conference Carolinas action in Kornegay Arena Thursday night. UMO falls to 8-3 overall and 5-2 in conference, while Limestone improves to 10-4, 5-3.

INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive took the earlier lead on a three-point play from Jada Bacchus, however, the Saints of Limestone responded with a 10-point run to gain their first lead of the game. The Trojans were only able to score 10 more points in the quarter as LC took a 18-13 lead into the second.

The second did not go much better for the Trojans as the Saints continued to build upon their lead expanding it to 13 heading into the halftime break.

The third quarter was not much different as Limestone held its double-digit lead building it to 56-41 after the third.

The final quarter was all Mount Olive as the Trojans started the final frame on a 14-2 run running all the way to just under 3:30 to play dropping the Limestone lead to three at 58-55. The Saints answered with eight straight points to run out the clock and that proved to be the deciding factor as time ran out for a comeback for UMO. 

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Jada Bacchus with 16 points. Azariah Fields assisted in the scoring with 13 points and Ivanda Hudjakova grabbed 20 boards on the night.

LIMESTONE LEADERS
The Saints were led by Alexis Armstrong with a team-high 21 points and six rebounds. 

KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came in the first half as Mount Olive was outscored 39-to-26 and was never able to eliminate the LC lead despite a 14-to-2 run in the fourth quarter.

Mount Olive remains on the road as the Trojans travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on the Tornado of King University on January 4 at 2 P.M.
