Mount Olive's Caitlin Sabadish scored twice and Kara Lyon added two assists, but the Trojans could not recover from an onslaught of enemy goals early in a 19-4 Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse to nationally third-ranked Limestone Wednesday afternoon at Amon Field.
The visiting Saints (11-1 overall, 4-0 Conference Carolinas) showed the national ranking was deserved, dominating both ends of the field much of the contest. Offensively, Limestone needed only 25 shots to net 19 goals. On defense, the Trojans (7-6, 1-4) were forced into 24 turnovers and cleared the ball only nine-of-14 times.
Chelsea Treat scored the game's first four goals and finished with five overall. Her final goal with 16 seconds left in the first half gave the Saints a 10-0 lead at halftime.
The lead was 16-0 when the Trojans broke through for the first time. Michelle Scannell found the back of the net with 16:36 left in the game. Limestone came back with three in a row before the Trojans scored the final three goals of the contest.
Sabadish scored with an assist from Alex Crawford with 5:55 remaining, then added another with a Lyon assist 2:43 later. Alysha Kulka closed out the scoring with help from Lyon with 45 seconds left.
Heather Cockburn led the Trojans with four ground balls, while Caley Breese forced three Limestone turnovers.
The Trojans return to the field Saturday when Mount Olive travels to Lees-McRae for a 2 p.m. match-up.
