Mount Olive Falls To Pfeiffer In Semifinal Of The 2014 Conference Carolinas Tournament

Riann Daziel scored the lone goal for the University of Mount Olive as they fall in the semifinal round of the 2014 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Tournament 11-1 to the Pfeiffer University Falcons in Gaffney, N.C. Hannah Knight led the team in groundballs with five.

Pfeiffer got in the goal first in semifinal match-up as Stephanie Athens struck the back of the net unassisted 28:12 into the first half. The goal sparked a 10-0 run by the Falcons that lasted until the 9:11 mark in the second half.

Mount Olive (12-6) did put a stop to the offence by Pfeiffer (13-3) as the Trojans held the Falcons without a goal for 12 minutes in the later end of the first half after a goal by Britton Muir with 13 minutes to play.

The Trojans got their first and only goal off the stick of Daziel with 9:11 left in the game.

Pfeiffer added one final goal in the game with 5:52 left as Kayla Bedwell scored an unassisted shot.

Katie McGovern came close to a goal as she had seven shots and of those five were on goal. She also had three groundballs and two draw controls. Daziel and Gina Fader were second on the team in the groundball statistic with four a piece. In goal for the Trojans, Knight had eight saves to go along with her five groundballs.

Mount Olive finishes the season 12-6 overall and 4-2 in Conference Carolinas play. The Trojans placed five on the 2014 All-Conference Carolinas team in Katie McGovern, Riann Daziel, Gina Fader, Michelle Fortier, and Hannah Knight.
