Fast Start Leads Trojans To 25-3 Women's Lacrosse Win Over Brevard

Riann Daziel scored five goals – her third five-goal performance in her last four games – as University of Mount Olive remained unbeaten with a 25-3 victory over Brevard College in non-conference women's lacrosse Saturday at Wingate, N.C. The contest was moved from Brevard to Wingate University due to field conditions caused by this week's weather.

Mount Olive (6-0) scored three goals in the first two minutes of the game and was never threatened. Goals by Claire Wigler 16 seconds apart and three goals by Wigler in a span of five minutes gave the Trojans a 12-0 lead with 16:08 left in the first half.

Brevard (0-1) got on the scoreboard on Ashlea Mann's free position shot with 14:21 remaining before halftime. Daziel answered with her final goal of the contest, while Alysha Kulka, Caitlin Sabadish and Alexa Milus all scored in the final four-plus minutes of the first half to give the Trojans a 17-2 halftime lead.

Kali Cook-Grisewood scored two of her three goals in the second half and defender Caley Breese capped the game's scoring with her first goal of the season with 3:50 left to play.

Kulka joined Cook-Grisewood with three goals and also recorded three assists, as did Milus and Wigler. Allana Bauche played the first half in goal for Mount Olive and Emerald Barron played in goal in the second half.

Mount Olive returns to action Tuesday as the Trojans travel to Misenheimer, N.C., to take on Pfeiffer University in a non-conference match-up. Game time is 4 p.m.
