No. 12 Mount Olive Defeats Pfeiffer 15-4

No. 12 University of Mount Olive utilized a nine goal first half to defeat Pfeiffer University 15-4 in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse Saturday afternoon at Amon Field in Mount Olive, N.C. Riann Daziel and Claire Wigler combined for ten goals.

Mount Olive (5-0 Overall, 3-0 Conference Carolinas) wasted no time getting on the board as Daziel beat the Pfeiffer (0-1,0-1) keeper unassisted for the game's first goal 38 seconds into the opening half. The Trojans then continued the attack by going on an 5-0 run, after the opening goal. Molly O'Friel for the Falcons stopped the run with 8:44 before halftime to put Pfeiffer on the board. 

Daziel and Wigler scored the next two goals for the Trojans and took a 9-1 lead into the break.

Pfeiffer showed a bit more energy in the second half as Gracie Herbert found the back of the net unassisted with 28:35 left in the game. Mount Olive went on to put in three more goals before Pfeiffer could put a stop to the Trojan offence. O'Friel and Herbert found the back of the goal for Pfeiffer and brought the deficit down to nine with 11:44 left. 

The Trojans did not let up however and went on to close out the game with three more goals.

Brittany Barron helped the Trojans on the offensive front with three ground balls and three draw controls. Alyahs Kulka also added a pair of ground balls and draw controls to assist Mount Olive.

Mount Olive will have over a week off as the Trojans will remain idle until the final day of February. The Trojans will host Tiffin at 2 p.m. on the 29, at Amon Field.
