No. 17 Mount Olive Falls To No. 11 Limestone 8-4

No. 17 University of Mount Olive fell to No. 11 Limestone College 8-4 Saturday afternoon in Gaffney, S.C. in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse. Mount Olive was unable to recover from a four goal first half by Limestone.

Mount Olive (9-4 Overall, 4-1 Conference Carolinas) was able to hold Limestone (10-2, 5-0) off the board until the 19:13 mark of the first half. Kathleen Gasset for the Saints put them on the board and in turn started a 4-0 run. Brittany Tyson added the final goal of the opening half with 11 seconds left and Limestone took a four goal cushion into the second half.

Riann Daziel picked up Mount Olive's first goal of the match with 27:16 remaining in the second half. Candace Corkin responded for the Trojans following two goals by the Saints. Corkin found the back of the net with just under ten minutes left in the game and the Trojans trailed 6-2. 

Daziel added two more goals scattered around two goals by Limestone, however those were the only goals Mount Olive could strike for as the final horn sounded. 

Three goundballs and two caused turnovers added to Daziel's team high three goals. Kayla Mergl, Alysha Kulka, and Gina Fader all helped the defense with two caused turnovers apiece.

Mount Olive will remain on the road as the Trojans travel south to take on Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga. Sunday. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
