Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive earned a 12-3 win over Catawba College in NCAA DII women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST HALF

  • Mount Olive came out of the gates hot as Kelly Young scored the first goal of the game with 27:41 on the clock.
  • Catawba responded with 12:28 left in the half with a Nicole Hunt unassisted goal to even the game at one.
  • Young started a 3-0 run for the Trojans with over 10 minutes remaining as Mount Olive jumped out to a 4-1 cushion.
  • Catawba kept the score close with a goal at the 6:55 mark to draw within two.
  • Caitlin Sabadish and Kali Cook-Grisewood put in the final two goals of the half as UMO led 6-2 at the break. 

SECOND HALF

  • Mount Olive had control of the second half as the Trojans put in six goals to the Indians one.

KEY STATS

  • Five Trojans were all tied with two goals apiece, as Young, Kali Ferguson, Micheala Ciciarelli, Jackie Kaderabek, and Saffron Sneathen each found the net twice.
  • Defensively, Hailey Dobbins led the way with nine caused turnovers, three draw controls, and three groundballs. 
  • Freshman Sienna Miller (2-0) earned her second victory in goal this season, as she recorded 15 saves on 23 shots.
  • The Trojans narrowly outshot Catawba, 30-23 in the win.
