Tigerville, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive remained unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play with a  13-6 win over North Greenville University on Tuesday afternoon in Tigerville, S.C.

FIRST HALF

  • Mount Olive got on the board first with a goal by freshman Jackie Kaderabek just 4:22 into the opening half, assisted by fellow freshman Kristin Sternkopf.
  • Junior Michaela Ciciarelli added her team-best 23rd goal of the season, putting the Trojans ahead 2-0 with 22:47 remaining in the first half.
  • Adding another score, freshman Bree Richards scored unassisted just five minutes later to give UMO a 3-0 lead nearing the midpoint of the first period.
  • North Greenville responded with back-to-back goals, trimming UMO's lead to just one, with 10:25 left in the half.
  • The Trojans added a pair of goals in the final 6:24 of the half to increase their lead back to three goals at 5-2 at the halftime break.

SECOND HALF

  • After NGU scored to open the half, the Trojans answered with the first collegiate goal for freshman Maddie Wnuk that pushed UMO back ahead 6-3 with 20:47 left to play.
  • The Crusaders would not go away as NGU answered with a goal that cut Mount Olive's lead to 6-4 with 19:04.
  • Ciciarelli responded with a pair of goals, giving her a hat-trick on the day, to give UMO an 8-4 advantage with just over 15 minutes left in the half.
  • After the Crusaders scored again to trim the Trojans' lead to three at 8-5 with 13:39 left in the game, UMO finished the game on a 5-1 run highlighted by freshman Casey Gover, who recorded her first two collegiate goals in the Trojans' 13-5 victory.
