Women's Lacrosse Falls To East Stroudsburg, 12-6

Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team dropped a match to East Stroudsburg University, 12-6,  in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

• The Trojans opened the scoring with a goal by freshman Bree Richards on a free position shot just 38 seconds into the game.
• East Stroudsburg answered with a pair of goals that gave the Warriors a 2-1 advantage with 26 minutes left on the clock in the opening half.
• Tying the game at two, junior Michaela Ciciarellia scored on a free position shot with 24:17 left in the half.
• ESU retook the lead just 10 seconds later as the Warriors grabbed the draw control and sprinted down the field and scored to give ESU a 3-2 lead.
• The Trojans answered with goals by freshman Kiara Burke and senior Kali Cook-Grisewood that pushed UMO back ahead at 4-3 with 20:55 remaining in the half.
• Once again, the Warriors tied the contest with a goal with 8:53 left in the period before Burke scored her second of the half with just 1:24 remaining in the frame to give the Trojans a 5-4 lead at the break.

SECOND HALF

• The Warriors grabbed momentum early in the final half with two goals in the first five minutes that gave ESU a 6-5 advantage with 25:03 left to play.
• Senior Saffron Snethen tied the contest at six on an unassisted goal with 17:54 remaining on the clock.
• After tying the contest at six, the Warriors ran off six-straight goals to end the game while holding the Trojans to just five shots in the final 17 minutes as ESU earned the 12-6 win.

KEY STATS

• Burke led UMO with a pair of goals on six shots.
• Freshman Sienna Miller (2-2) was credited with the loss after coming on to start the second half, allowing eight goals.
• Defensively, sophomore Hailey Dobbins caused six ESU turnovers and grabbed three ground balls.
• The Trojans outshot ESU, 25-22, but the Warriors held a 16-10 advantage in the second half.
