Mount Olive, N.C. – After holding the lead most of the game, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker to No. 8 Limestone College, 10-9, on Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald, Sr. Track and Field/Lacrosse Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST HALF

  • UMO scored quickly to open the game as senior Saffron Snethen found the back of the net just 40 seconds into the contest.
  • The Saints answered with a goal with 23:58 left in the first half to tie the game at one.
  • Limestone took its first lead with 18:17 remaining on the clock in the opening half on a goal by Kendra Sheppard.
  • Snethen responded with her second goal of the afternoon to knot the game at two with 16:33 left in the half.
  • After Limestone pushed back ahead at 3-2, Snethen continued her stellar first half with two more goals to close the half and give the Trojans a 4-3 advantage heading into the break.

SECOND HALF

  • Coming out of the half, Limestone quickly scored just 1:15 into the second period to equalize the game at four.
  • Freshman Kiara Burke put the Trojans back ahead with a goal with 27:25 left in the half.
  • After the Saints tied the game again at five, UMO scored three-straight goals to build its largest advantage of the afternoon at 8-6 with 16:15 remaining in the game.
  • The Trojans and Saints each traded a goal over the next five minutes as Mount Olive held onto its two-goal lead at 9-7 with 11:36 left on the clock in the second half.
  • Limestone tied the game once again with 5:12 left to play after back-to-back goals by the Saints.
  • With just 12 seconds remaining, Limestone fired a shot that found the back of the net and gave the Saints the 10-9 win.
