Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team rolled past Converse College, 26-2, in Conference Carolinas action on Sunday afternoon at the Ray McDonald, Sr. Track & Field/Lacrosse Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST HALF

  • UMO got on the board first just 41 seconds into the game as freshman Jackie Kaderabek found the back of the net to put the Trojans ahead 1-0.
  • Kaderabek had a hand in the next two Trojan goals as senior Caitlin Sabadish scored off an assist from the Annapolis, Maryland native and Kaderabek scored her second goal to push Mount Olive ahead 3-0 with 26:31 left in the opening half.
  • UMO continued to pull away scoring six more unanswered goals including a pair of goals by junior Michaela Ciciarelli and freshman Claire Murray that helped UMO grow its lead to 9-0.
  • Converse scored its first goal with 16:58 gone by in the half, but the Trojans responded with four goals to give UMO a 13-1 lead at the halftime break.

SECOND HALF

  • The Trojans continued the onslaught in the second half as UMO scored nine unanswered goals before Converse recorded its first goal of the half as Mount Olive held a 22-2 lead with 9:49 left in the game.
  • To close the contest, the Trojans scored four more goals before the final horn including two goals by sophomore Casey Gover and freshman Kristin Sternkopf, who assisted on both of Gover's goals as UMO captured the 26-2 victory.

KEY STATS

  • Ciciarelli led the Trojans with four goals while two other Trojans recorded hat-tricks as Gover and Kaderabek each scored three goals.
  • Kaderabek chipped in four assists to go along with her hat-trick.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Thomson (W: 6-3) earned the victory, allowing just one goal on two shots in 30 minutes of action, while freshman Siena Miller played the second half between the posts and allowed just one goal on one shot.
  • Sophomore Sadie Michael led UMO with six ground balls, while fellow sophomore Hailey Dobbins added six caused turnovers and five ground balls as Dobbins broke the program record for ground balls in a single season with 46.
