Due West, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team rolled past Erskine College, 25-3, in Conference Carolinas action on Thursday evening in Due West, S.C.

FIRST HALF

  • Freshman Kiara Burke put UMO on the board first with a pair of goals in the first 2:19 to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
  • UMO increased its lead to 6-0 with 25:08 left in the opening half as senior Saffron Snethen, junior Micheala Ciciarelli, and freshmen Jackie Kaderabek and Kelly Young all scored.
  • The Flying Fleet broke up the string of Trojan goals with its first tally at 22:24, trimming UMO's advantage to 6-1.
  • UMO responded with nine unanswered goals to give UMO a 15-1 lead at the half as Burke, Kaderabek, and Snethen all earned first-half hat tricks.

SECOND HALF

  • Ciciarelli opened the second half with her third goal of the evening to give the Trojans a 16-1 advantage just 42 seconds into the half.
  • The Trojans' lead ballooned to 18 at 19-1 with 24:08 left in the half following goals by Burke, Kaderabek, and Snethen.
  • After Erskine trimmed the Trojans' advantage to 20-3, UMO ended the game on a 5-0 run to give Mount Olive the 25-3 victory.

 KEY STATS

  • Five Trojans recorded a hat trick in the win with Kaderabek and Snethen leading the way with five goals each.
  • Also scoring hat tricks for UMO were Burke (4 goals), Young (4), and Ciciarelli (3).
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Thomson (W: 7-4) earned the victory in goal, allowing just one goal in 30 minutes between the posts.
  • The Trojans outshot Erskine, 38-11, and won the draw control battle, 24-5.
