Misenheimer, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team captured a 20-9 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas action on Tuesday evening in Misenheimer, N.C.

Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

  • For the second time in the last three games, freshman Kiara Burke opened the scoring with back-to-back goals to give UMO a 2-0 lead with 24:10 left in the opening half.
  • Fellow freshman Jackie Kaderabek and Claire Murray each added a goal to increase the Trojan's lead to 4-0 with 18:47 remaining in the first half.
  • Pfeiffer got on the board with 17:28 on the clock to trim UMO's lead to 4-1.
  • UMO responded with three goals, two from junior Michaela Ciciarelli and another from Kaderabek that inflated Mount Olive's advantage to 7-1 just past the halfway point of the half.
  • To end the half, both UMO and Pfeiffer scored four goals as the Trojans took an 11-5 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF

  • The Trojans advantage held at six after UMO and Pfeiffer each scored twice to open the second half.
  • UMO's lead ballooned to its largest point at 20-7 with 6:50 left to play before Pfeiffer scored twice to end the game as the Trojans captured the 20-9 victory.

 KEY STATS

  • UMO had four players earn a hat-trick in the victory with Burke and Kaderabek leading the way with five goals each.
  • Also recording three goals each for the Trojans were Ciciarelli and Murray.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Thomson (W: 8-4) earned the victory in goal, allowing five goals and making four saves in 30 minutes between the posts.
