MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team opened the 2017-18 season with a 20-1 win over Barton College in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

FIRST HALF

  • Mount Olive got on the board first three and a half minutes into the game as Kiara Burke connected with the back of the net to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
  • UMO scored again two minutes later, 24:26, as Kali Ferguson scored off the Nola Wesche assist.
  • Burke scored her second of the game, eight seconds later (24:18), to put the score at 3-0.
  • At 23:57 Michaela Ciciarelli scored off the free position attempt to give the Trojans a 4-0 lead as Barton called a timeout.
  • Ciciarelli scored her second of the game about a minute later off the pass from Jackie Kaderabek.
  • The Trojans scored seven more goals to hold the 12-0 lead at halftime.

SECOND HALF

  • The Trojans continued to control the game in the second half adding eight additional goals to take a 20-0 lead. 
  • Barton held off the shutout as Jenna Brunclik scored for the Bulldogs with 40 seconds left in the game as they fell to the Trojans 20-1
