MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team cruised past the Bobcats of Lees-McRae 22-1 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon at Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field/ Lacrosse Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.

Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

  • The Trojans got things going as they scored the first goal of the contest on a Kiara Burke free-position shot with 26:33 remaining in the first half.
  • Lees-McRae answered three minutes later to tie the game with an unassisted goal, the only goal the Bobcats saw for the entirety of the match.
  • Jordan Shughrue scored two goals for UMO in what ended up being a 10-0 run to end the half as the Trojans took an 11-1 lead into the break.

SECOND HALF

  • Shughrue started off the scoring for Mount Olive in the second half as again the Trojans scored in bunches blasting home 11 more goals as the Bobcats had no answer for the UMO attack and fell 22-1.

KEY STATS

  • Jordan Shughrue led the Trojans with eight goals. Burke followed with four scores herself.
  • Samantha Thomson (W: 6-1, 4-0) allowed just one goal on two shots faced and made one save.
  • UMO won in the draw circle tallying 22 draws to LMC's three.
