BELMONT, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team defeated the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 16-14 in Conference Carolinas action on Saturday afternoon in Belmont, N.C. Jordan Shughrue led the Trojans attack with her second eight-goal performance in a row, while Michaela Ciciarelli added six goals in UMO's 16-14 win.

FIRST HALF
- The Trojans went ahead early as they scored three unanswered goals to open the contest. Ciciarelli, Shughrue and Jackie Kaderabek all got on the board in the opening 10 minutes.
- Belmont Abbey responded with a pair of goals to cut the UMO lead to one, 3-2, but Kaderabek put her second goal of the game into the net, as did Shughrue, pushing Mount Olive's lead up by three again, 5-2.
- The Crusaders tied the game at five-all, as they scored three unanswered goals in a two-minute window.
- Shughrue added her third goal of the half to give the Trojans a 6-5 lead, but the teams entered halftime all knotted up at six, as a Crusader scored a goal with less than a minute in the half.
SECOND HALF
- Shughrue got the scoring going in the second half with a goal 52 seconds into the resumption of play.
- BAC took an 8-7 lead on back-to-back goals, but Shughrue put up two more for her fifth and sixth goals of the game reclaiming the lead for Mount Olive, 9-8.
- Ciciarelli gave the Trojans a two-goal cushion, 11-9 with 15:43 on the clock, following a goal by the Crusaders that tied the score at nine all.
- Belmont Abbey scored a goal putting the score at 11-10 before the Trojans went on a 5-1 run that gave Mount Olive a five-goal, 16-11 lead, with three and a half minutes to play.
- The Crusaders scored three goals in the final three minutes, but their rally fell short as the clock hit zero and the Trojans won 16-14.
