MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team defeated the Bulldogs of Barton College 15-2 in the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinals at the Ray McDonald Sr. Track & Field/Lacrosse Complex in Mount Olive, N.C. Jordan Shughrue led the Trojans with five goals and took over the program record for goals in a season passing Riann Daziel's 67 as Shughrue now has 68 to her credit.

FIRST HALF
- The first half was all Trojans as they held the Bulldogs scoreless riding a 12-0 lead into halftime.
- Shughrue had four goals in the first half followed by Kali Ferguson who tallied three.
- Keely Trail had a pair of goals in the opening 30 minutes, while Kiara Burke, Kriston Guerra, and Denae Haeussler each added a goal contributing to the 12-0 lead.
SECOND HALF
- Barton got on the scoreboard as the Bulldogs scored the first goal of the second half three minutes into the action.
- Burke recorded her second goal of the game to give UMO a 13-1 lead.
- BC scored their second goal as the clock ticked down towards the 16-minute mark.
- The Trojans closed out the game scoring the last two goals as Shughrue picked up her fifth goal and Ferguson her fourth as Mount Olive went on to win 15-2.
KEY STATS
- Shughrue's five goals, 68 on the season, eclipsed the program record for goals in a season. She passed Riann Daziel's 67 goal mark set back in 2016.
- Shughrue also led the team in ground balls (8), draw controls (7), free position shots (2-2), and was third in caused turnovers (3).
- Ferguson's four goals are tied for her season-high. She scored four in the win over Erskine.
- Samantha Thomson (9-3) picked up the win playing 20:15 minutes in the net and giving up no goals.
