Mount Olive, N.C. --- Kiara Burke of the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II All-South Region Second-Team.
The East Patchogue, N.Y. native earned a Conference Carolinas First-Team nod following a season where the Trojans finished second in the regular season and fell in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament.
Burke tallied 58 goals, second-most on the team and 9th in the conference, 69 points (3rd/T-11th), 64 draw controls (1st/T-9th), 22 caused turnovers (3rd/T-17th), and 40 ground balls (4th/T-11th). She was second on the team with 97 shots on goal and led the team with 137 total shots. Burke held a 70.8 shot on goal average and a 42.3% shot percentage.
The IWLCA named 128 student-athletes in Division II with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2018. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2018 All-Americans during Divisional All-American Announcement Shows, which will be launched online in mid-June.
