MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team defeated the Bulldogs of Wingate University 14-7 on Saturday afternoon in nonconference women's lacrosse action at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play
FIRST HALF
- The Bulldogs scored the first two goals of the contest before the Trojans knotted the score at two-all on goals from Skylar Grady and Skye Bradley.
- Wingate answered with another pair of goals to go up 4-2, but Mount Olive scored five goals throughout the rest of the first half to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.
- Kiara Burke, Keely Trail, Jordan Shughrue, Meaghan Michaud, and Jackie Kaderabek all scored a goal in the 5-0 run to close the half.
SECOND HALF
- The Trojans extended their lead to five-goals, 9-4, after Michaud and Burke each added their second goal of the contest.
- Wingate closed the gap scoring three unanswered goals to put the score at 9-7, UMO leading, with 16:47 left in regulation.
- Mount Olive controlled the rest of the game closing with a 5-0 run putting the final score at 14-7.
- Burke and Shughrue each added a pair of goals while Kaderabek scored one, her second of the game, and assisted on the two Shughrue goals.
KEY STATS
- Kiara Burke led the Trojan attack with four goals on 12 shots. She also scooped up eight draw controls.
- Jordan Shughrue had a hat trick on four shots along with three ground balls.
- Meaghan Michaud and Jackie Kaderabek each tallied a pair of goals, while Kaderabek led the team with four assists.
