Mount Olive Rolls Past Lees-McRae 22-3

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Mount Olive Trojans rolled past the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College 22-3 in Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse action at the Fred I. Dickerson Athletic Complex in Banner Elk, N.C. Jordan Shughrue had a season-high six goals in the contest while Jackie Kaderabek posted five in the 22-3 victory.

Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

  • Mount Olive started things off hot as they scored the first six goals of the contest to lead 6-0 before the 18th minute of action ended. Jackie Kaderabek led the way with two goals, while Tiffany Lee, Jordan Shughrue, Nola Wesche, and Kiara Burke each added a goal in the run. 
  • Lees-McRae found a goal on a free-position shot with 10:16 remaining in the first half putting the score at 6-1.
  • Shughrue and Kaderabek each found the net to open up a seven-goal lead, 8-1. Meaghan Michaud assisted on the Shughrue goal while Zoe Dougherty helped on Kaderabek's third goal of the game.
  • The Bobcats scored a second goal with eight minutes to play in the first while the Trojans closed the half on a four-goal run that saw Michaud get her first goal of the game while Wesche tallied her second and back-to-back goals from Shughrue put her at four goals for the game as the Trojans headed into halftime leading 12-2.

SECOND HALF

  • Mount Olive came out of halftime putting three quick goals on the board to take a 15-2 lead. Shughrue put her fifth goal of the contest up while Kaderabek scored a pair contributing to her five total goals.
  • Lees-McRae found one last goal in the 42nd minute of the contest putting the score at 15-3 but the Trojans regained possession and scored seven more goals to close out the game, winning 22-3.
  • The final seven goals came off the sticks of Zoe Dougherty and Ann Wray, who each put in a pair of goals, Keely Trail with one and Wesche and Shughrue with their third and sixth goals respectively.

  • Shughrue scored a season-high six goals and contributed two assists for eight points in the game.
  • Kaderabek scored five goals and one assist for six points of her own.
