MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The No. 25 Mount Olive Trojans fell to the No. 3 Moccasins of Florida Southern College 22-8 in NCAA Division II women's lacrosse action at the Barnett Athletic Complex in Lakeland, Fla.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

  • Florida Southern started the match with a pair of goals in the opening six minutes of action.
  • UMO found their way on the scoreboard in the seventh minute as Jordan Shughrue connected with the back of the net on an unassisted shot.
  • The Mocs took a 4-1 lead after they tallied another pair of goals with the clock at hit 22:27.
  • Skylar Grady found a goal off a free position shot at 20:25 to cut the FSC lead to two goals before the first ten minutes of action completed.
  • Florida Southern took off from there as they scored their fifth goal six seconds after Grady scored hers, a goal that started a 6-0 run of unanswered goals by the Mocs.
  • As the clock ticked under 11 minutes left in the first half, Kelly Young found the net on a free position shot to close the difference to seven goals, 10-3.
  • Young's goal began a back and forth between the teams as they traded goals throughout the remaining minutes of the half.
  • Each team scored four goals in the back and forth battle with UMO's goals coming from Young, Skye Bradley, and Tiffany Lee, who scored twice, as the teams entered halftime with FSC holding a 14-6.

SECOND HALF

  • Florida Southern came out of the halftime break on a six-goal run to take a 20-6 lead.
  • Shughrue scored her second goal of the game at the 8:35 mark on a free position shot that put the score at 20-7.
  • The Mocs put up two more goals driving the score up to 22-7 in favor of the nationally ranked FSC team.
  • Tiffany Lee got the final word in, per se, with her third goal of the game coming with just 20 seconds remaining in the contest as Florida Southern won 22-8.

KEY STATS

  • Tiffany Lee led the Trojan attack with a hat trick against the Mocs, while Jordan Shughrue was just behind with a pair of goals herself.
  • Kelly Young, Skylar Grady, and Skye Bradley all combined for the remaining three goals.
  • Siena Miller (L: 6-3) took the loss playing all 60 minutes in net giving up 22 goals on 37 shots faced. Miller did make eight stops, five in the opening half and three in the second period.
