No. 12 Limestone Defeats North Greenville To Advance To Conference Carolinas Championship

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The No. 1 seed Limestone College rolled past the No. 4 seed North Greenville University 15-7 in the first semifinals game of the Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament Thursday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

FIRST HALF

  • Limestone opened the game on a four-goal run in the opening four minutes of play.
  • North Greenville stopped the run at the 19:03 mark with their first goal and drew to within three.
  • The Saints then went on another four-goal unanswered streak and just as in the first run Courtney Lafler scored two goals in the run collecting her third and fourth goals in the second run.
  • Following the second run by LC, the Crusaders Olivia Foltz and Brenis Napoli put home two more goals for NGU and took down the Limestone lead to 8-3 with 11:27 remaining in the half.
  • Limestone sandwiched two more goals in between a North Greenville goal and took a 10-4 lead into the break.

SECOND HALF

  • The second half saw five more goals from the Limestone Saints to four goals from the Crusaders and despite three of NGU's goals coming at the end of the game, the comeback was not to be.

KEY STATS

  • Courtney Lafler led the Saints with six goals and collected two groundballs.
  • Kaitlin Kellogg and Hanna Hawkins both tied with two goals each as well as two groundballs.
