Mount Olive Named A 2019 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad

Mount Olive, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team was named a 2019 IWLCA Names Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad as announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association in late July.

Mount Olive was one of 312 schools announced the honor squad by the IWLCA. To qualify for the academic honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.0 or higher team GPA for the academic year. The Trojans earned a 3.225 GPA for the 2018-19 academic year, claiming their fifth IWLCA Academic Honor Squad accolade.

The Trojans matched their academic success with athletic success on the field as they finished the season 14-6 overall and 9-1 in conference action. The Trojans made a run to the Conference Carolinas Championship game were the runners up. Sadie Michael, senior defensive captain, was named the Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, while freshman Meaghan Michaud was the Conference Freshman of the Year.
