Meet the Trojans: UMO Wrestling Unveils Members of the First Signing Class; Part 4

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive wrestling program and head coach Jake Patacsil are excited to begin unveiling the inaugural class for the new Trojan wrestling team. Over the next couple of weeks, Coach Patacsil and the Athletics Communications office will introduce the incoming grapplers who will begin competing in the 2019-20 school year.

This edition of Meet the Trojans introduces the following group of young men; Drew Wiechers, Gabriel Guess, Jeremiah Ducre, and Tyler Vinson.

The first grappler of this edition is Drew Wiechers from Dayton, Ohio. Wiechers attended Centerville High School where he wrestled in the 160-pound weight class. He placed sixth at States, is a two-time all-area, earned three Outstanding Wrestler Awards, and is a GMVWA Scholarship Award winner. Wiechers plans to major in business at the University of Mount Olive and will compete in the 165 weight class.

Our next signee is Gabriel Guess of Claremont, N.C. Guess attended Bunker Hill High School. While at Bunker Hill, Guess wrestled in the 184/197 weight classes and was a third-place finisher at states. While attending UMO Guess plans to study Environmental and Natural Resources.

The third wrestler joining UMO is Jeremiah Ducre. Ducre comes to Mount Olive from Alderson Broaddus University. Prior to attending ABU, Ducre wrestled at Oscar C. Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. During his time as a Tiger, he finished fifth at States, third at Regionals, and was the Conference Champion in the 285 weight class. He also earned a spot on the Great Neuse River AAA Academic All-Conference squad.

Our final signee of this edition is Tyler Vinson of Franklin, N.C. Vinson attended Franklin High School where he wrestled in the 149 weight class. Vinson earned several accolades during his high school career including Champion titles at the Jet Invitational, Mill Town Invitational, Jerry Hampton Invitational, Mountain 6 Conference, Regional Runner-Up, All-Conference, All-WNC, and he was a State Qualifier.
