Mount Olive Takes Fourth At Star City Classic; Waddell Finishes First At 125-Lbs

SALEM, Virginia - The University of Mount Olive wrestling team had another strong weekend as they finished fourth, just one point shy of taking third overall as a team, and saw one individual champion, three runners-up, and two fifth-place finishers.

INSIDE THE MEET
The Star City Classic had 13 schools represented on the mat including two Division I's in East Carolina and Liberty. Mount Olive finished fourth overall with 117.5 team points behind Otterbein University (DIII), Ferrum College, and Elizabethtown College (DIII). 

The Trojans got their first individual champion of the season in Hayden Waddell in the 125-pound bracket. He went 4-0 on the day defeating opponents from Huntingdon College, the Apprentice School, Millikin University, and Ferrum College.

Colby Teague (149-lb), Ross Sealby (197-lb), and Ogden Atwood (285-lb) each took second place in their respective weight classes. Jordan McKinney (141-lb) and Drew Weicher (157-lb) fell in the championship bracket but continued in the wrestlebacks and won the bout that determined the fifth and sixth-place finishers.

The Meet will have two matches at 1 PM with UNC Pembroke taking on West Liberty and UMO going against Saint Andrew's. The 3 PM match will be between the Trojans and Hilltoppers of West Liberty and UMO will end the day with a 5 PM match against the Braves of UNC Pembroke.
