Mount Olive Tops Erskine 5-1

Five different Trojans scored as the University of Mount Olive defeated Erskine College 5-1 in Due West, S.C. for Conference Carolinas women's soccer Saturday afternoon. 

Mount Olive (4-3-1 Overall, 3-1-1) struck first in the 15th minute as Ellie Barnes found the back of the net as a pass found her open in the midfield. Christine Rocchio was the next Trojan to score in the 17th minute as a foul in the box gave Mount Olive a penalty kick opportunity. Rocchio beat the diving keeper. 

The Trojans added two more goals before the half. Jocelyn Yurchak (21st) and Kaylee Larson (39th) padded the score to a 4-0 lead at the break. Nichole Poppe in the second half put Mount Olive's final goal in the net in the 65th minute.

Erskine (1-7, 0-4) did however score in the 85th minute on a Jamie Morris goal.

Stephanie McCoy and Kelsey Cirrito both recorded a save in the contest.

The Trojans remain on the road as they will travel to Newberry, S.C.  to play Newberry College for a non-conference match-up Monday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
