MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive was defeated 2-0 by the Hawks of Chowan University in Conference Carolinas women's soccer Tuesday afternoon at Amon Field.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

First Half

  • Mount Olive maintained possession of the ball early in the first half as the offense came out of the gate pressing the Chowan defense.
  • The Trojans and Hawks entered halftime knotted up nil-nil, as UMO held CU to just five shots in the half with Sterling Morris making three saves.

Second Half

  • Chowan got on the scoreboard just six minutes into the second half as Carolina Lucci shook a defender and faked the keeper to score the first Hawk goal.
  • Less than five minutes later, Lucci scored her second of the game as she corraled her own rebound off the post to connect with the back of the net.
  • Following a hard foul, UMO played a man down for the final 30 minutes of the match.
