Mount Olive, N.C. - University of Mount Olive women's soccer team fought back down by two at the half but could not complete the comeback as the Trojans fell 2-1 to the Lions of Emmanuel College in Conference Carolinas women's soccer Sunday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened
Play-by-Play

First Half

  • The opening ten minutes of the first half had momentum on Emmanuel's side as the Lions scored twice in the eighth and eleventh minutes.
  • Mount Olive made a host of substitutions in the latter part of the half but could not find a goal as the halftime horn sounded.

Second Half

  • The Trojans continued to battle in the second half, but only managed to threaten the Lions keeper three times in the first 30 mins of the half.
  • Kaylee Larson 19 seconds into the 75th minute crossed a ball from the right side of the box in front of a wide-open Cristina Galvan who, in no man's land, chipped the ball over the Emmanuel keepers outstretched arms and into the back of the net. 
  • Mount Olive recorded three more shots in the game but was unable to find the tying goal and fell 2-1 as the final horn sounded.
