WILSON, North Carolina– The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team took down their archrival the Bulldogs of Barton College 3-1 in Conference Carolinas action Wednesday night in Wilson, N.C.
Game Information
Mount Olive took the early lead on a lob shot from Sara Berglund in the 7th minute and UMO held a slim lead for about four minutes before Barton answered in the 12th minute to tie the match. The half ended in the 1-1 tie, but the Trojans continued to pressure as Kali Schindler chipped a shot over the BC keeper for the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute.
Riley Baker added an insurance goal in the 79th minute off a pass from Jaelyn Brown and UMO closed out the contest with the 3-1 victory.
Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by Kali Schindler who scored not only the game-winner but assisted in one goal as well.
Taylor Lewis (7-0-1, 6-0-0) in the game recorded three saves on four shots.
Bulldog Leaders
Barton was led by Rebekah Beal who had the only goal for the Bulldogs.
Up Next: Mount Olive will return home to Amon Field to host North Greenville on October 19 at 1 p.m. It will also be senior day for Kendall Blaine, Aimee Darrow, and Mackenzie Abbott.
