Women's Tennis Sweeps Converse 9-0

Roxanne Chouinard and Malte Belloso highlighted a dominating performance by Mount Olive Saturday as the Trojans swept Converse College 9-0 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis play at the Walker Tennis Center. Choinard and Belloso each won 6-0, 6-0 as the Trojans improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

Mount Olive allowed the visiting Royals just five overall points in clinching the team win early. Top-seeded Molly Lentini and second-seeded Francesca Ceppi each won 6-1, 6-0, while fourth-seeded Samara Paldinho won 6-1, 6-2.

In doubles play, Ceppi and Lentini got a tough battle from Olivia Self and Kasey Anderson at number one before winning 8-5. At number two, Chouinard and Belloso defeated Klaire Rouse and Samantha Sheffield 8-2.

Converse was short-handed in the match and was not able to field a sixth singles and third doubles position.

The Trojans return to the court Tuesday when Fayetteville State travels to Mount Olive for a 2 p.m. start.
