Dramatic Comeback Lifts Women's Tennis To 2-0 Record During Spring Break Trip

Mount Olive got back on the winning track in dramatic fashion, sweeping all three doubles matches to rally from a 4-2 deficit for a 5-4 victory over Catawba in non-conference women's tennis during the Trojans' Spring Break trip Tuesday at Hilton Head Island, S.C. Roxanne Chouinard and Maite Belloso notched the clinching doubles win.

Mount Olive followed up with a 9-0 win over Quincy (Ill.) Wednesday. The two wins improve the Trojans to 5-2 on the season.

The match against Catawba opened with singles play and Mount Olive won only two of the six singles matches. Francesca Ceppi won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Roxanne Chouinard won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

Mount Olive began its comeback in doubles play as Samara Paldinho and Paulina Delgado posted an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Ceppi and Molly Sue Lentini, the seventh-ranked women's doubles team in the Southeast Region, tied the match with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles.

Chouinard and Belloso then clinched the team victory with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

The Trojans also swept doubles play against Quincy and then went on to win all six singles matches. Nicole Karas, starting setter on the Trojan women's volleyball team, saw her first tennis action this season. She won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and combined with Paldinho for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Mount Olive is idle until March 15 when the Trojans travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take on Queens in Conference Carolinas action. The match was originally scheduled last month, but had to be moved due to inclement weather. Match time is 2 p.m.
