Mount Olive swept all three doubles matches and posted wins at the top three singles positions as the Trojans defeated Barton 6-3 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Wednesday at Walker Tennis Center.
Mount Olive (6-4 overall, 3-3 Conference Carolinas) built on a 3-0 lead as Molly Sue Lentini posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Francesca Ceppi won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Roxanne Chouinard won 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 3 singles as the Trojans clinched the team win.
Ceppi and Lentini combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Chouinard and Maite Belloso won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Samara Paldinho and Paulina Delgado completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Barton (7-5, 4-3) won at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles.
Mount Olive heads to the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina for a pair of matches this weekend. The Trojans are in Florence, S.C., Friday to take on nationally ranked Francis Marion. Saturday, the Trojans go to Hartsville, S.C., to face Coker in a Conference Carolinas match-up.
