Trojans Defeat North Greenville 7-2 In Conference Carolinas Women's Tennis

University of Mount Olive swept doubles and won the top four singles flights on its way to a 7-2 victory over North Greenville University in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Friday at Walker Tennis Center. Francesca Ceppi, Alejandra Hernandez, Roxanne Chouinard and Paulina Delgado all posted wins in singles and doubles.

Mount Olive (7-2 overall, 2-1 Conference Carolinas) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Ceppi and Chouinard posted an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, while Hernandez teamed with Maite Belloso for and 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles and Delgado combined with Samara Paldinho for an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Trojans clinched the team victory after Chouinard posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles and Ceppi won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles to give Mount Olive an insurmountable 5-0 lead. Hernandez (No. 2 singles) and Delgado (No. 4 singles) both won in straight sets before North Greenville (1-8, 1-2) picked up wins at the Nos. 5 and 6 singles flights to avoid the shutout.

Mount Olive heads west and a bit south during Spring Break for a pair of matches against Peach Belt Conference opponents. The Trojans travel to Dahlonega, Ga., Monday to take on North Georgia, then go to Aiken, S.C., Tuesday to face USC Aiken.
