Francesca Ceppi and Roxanne Chouinard were both victorious in singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough as University of Mount Olive fell to UNC Pembroke 6-3 in non-conference women's tennis Thursday at Walker Tennis Center. The match was the Trojans' first in a week.
Ceppi overcame a first set loss for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles. Chouinard posted a straight-set 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. The singles wins came after the duo won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, but Mount Olive (9-5) trailed 2-1 after doubles play. UNC Pembroke (10-7) posted straight-set wins at the Nos. 4-6 singles flights to secure the team win.
The Trojan men's and women's tennis teams play host to Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas action Saturday. Match time is 1 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
