Pfeiffer 5, Mount Olive 4 (April 5, 2014)
University of Mount Olive led past the halfway point of the contest, but Pfeiffer University won three straight singles matches to defeat the Trojans 5-4 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Saturday at Walker Tennis Center. Maite Belloso and Roxanne Chouinard posted singles wins for the Trojans.
Mount Olive (9-6 overall, 4-4 Conference Carolinas) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Chouinard and Francesca Ceppi won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Paulina Delgado and Samara Paldinho posted an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
After Pfeiffer (15-1, 7-1) won at No. 2 singles, Chouinard answered with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles. But the Trojans fell in three sets at No. 1 singles and the Falcons posted straight-set wins at the Nos. 4 and 5 singles flights to clinch the team victory. Belloso closed out the match with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-5 win at No. 6 singles.

University of Mount Olive posted its third shutout of the season as the Trojans defeated Belmont Abbey College 9-0 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Sunday at Belmont, N.C. The Trojans won all three doubles matches and all six singles matches.
Francesca Ceppi and Roxanne Chouinard dropped only one game between them in singles and doubles play. After combining for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles, Ceppi won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Chouinard posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles to give the Trojans an insurmountable 5-0 lead and clinch the team win.
Alejandra Hernadez and Maite Belloso won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Samara Paldinho and Paulina Delgado pulled out a 9-7 victory at No. 3 doubles. Paldinho, Delgado and Nicole Karas recorded straight-set singles wins, while Hernandez overcame a first-set loss for a 5-7, 6-1, 10-3 win at No. 2 singles.
Mount Olive (10-6 overall, 5-4 Conference Carolinas) returns to action Thursday as the Trojans travel to Raleigh, N.C., to take on Meredith College in a non-conference match-up. Match time is 3 p.m.
