University of Mount Olive posted its second conference win in as many days as the Trojans defeated Lees-McRae College 8-1 in Conference Carolinas women's tennis Saturday at Walker Tennis Center. The Trojans swept doubles play and won five of six singles matches.
Mount Olive (3-1 overall, 2-0 Conference Carolinas) took a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Alejandra Hernandez and Francesca Ceppi won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, Maite Belloso and Paulina Delgado posted an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and Jennifer Byrd and Mariana Gamboa won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Ceppi, Hernandez and Delgado each won a set at love in their straight set wins to clinch the team victory for Mount Olive. Belloso and Nicole La Chappelle also won in straight sets.
Mount Olive returns to action Wednesday as the Trojans play host to Bluefield College in a non-conference match-up. Match time is 4 p.m. at Walker Tennis Center.
